The families of young people unaccounted for after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are facing an agonising wait for answers and appealing for clues about their children online.

The blaze ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated footage depict the ceiling igniting as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have warned that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and injured another 119. Officials said on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to locate the other six.

In the interim, relatives have been taking to the internet to request clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that night.

Desperate Searches for the Missing

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are not yet determined, according to an heartfelt request from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near the city, informed a publication that she had returned to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"I'm living a nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she told the paper.

The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that six of its citizens remain missing.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His parent said that he had been on holiday but had gone out with a group and found himself at the venue.

"Someone with him told me they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

One of his educators commented, "I remember his kindness and smile, alongside great responsibility. Often offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss nationality but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to sources.

Her sibling has shared an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
