Sir Keir Starmer is expected to urge partner nations to provide Ukraine with further long-range missiles to hit Russian targets during discussions in London on the upcoming Friday.

Sir Keir plans to receive Ukraine's leader the Ukrainian head of state alongside what's known as "coalition of the willing", including over twenty of Kyiv's partners who have pledged to grant Kyiv protection commitments once a ceasefire is brokered.

Zelensky has been pleading for an extended period for further long-range weapons from Western nations, a step that Moscow has cautions would intensify the hostilities.

The Ukrainian president is travelling from the EU capital, where he met EU leaders on yesterday pursuing funding aid.

"The sole individual engaged in the ongoing war who does not want to end the fighting is Vladimir Putin," the Prime Minister remarked.

Sir Keir furthermore declare that 100 further anti-aircraft missiles will be supplied to Ukraine earlier than planned, as detailed in a £1.6bn deal concluded between the UK and Kyiv in spring.

International Support

The Ukrainian president arrives off the back of important international achievements this week: Washington's action to enact further sanctions against the Russian government, and EU nations agreeing to fund Ukraine's financial gap.

Sir Keir will encourage delegates to increase the supply of long-range weapons following a successful strike on an industrial facility in Bryansk, Russia, using UK-provided advanced weaponry.

"And his depraved assaults on innocent children in a preschool this week make that crystal clear," he continued.

A pair of children were among at least seven lost in multiple Russian strikes on the country, which targeted a nursery in the second biggest city Ukraine's second city.

Financial Discussions

Britain's leader will discuss with Western allies on methods to withdraw Russian oil and gas out of worldwide commerce.

Delegates will also examine using frozen Russian assets to offer Kyiv with monetary support, although the initiative faced a lack of political consensus and jurisdictional challenges at the European meeting on yesterday.

European Union stopped short of agreeing an initiative to use approximately €140 billion in frozen Russian assets to monetarily assist the Ukrainian economy.

Nonetheless, the delegates agreed to assist with Kyiv's "financial needs" for the upcoming biennium.

The US also announced restrictions on Wednesday against the Russian two largest petroleum firms, Rosneft and Lukoil Corporation, as part of efforts to increase monetary leverage on Russia to begin peace talks.

The Russian government launched its major offensive of Ukrainian territory in winter 2022. The invading forces currently controls about 20% of the country's land, encompassing the southern Crimea peninsular Moscow seized in the year 2014.
