Labuschagne Omitted from Australia's One-Day International Team to Face Team India
Labuschagne finds himself omitted from Australia's three-match ODI series versus India, with in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw receiving a unexpected inclusion.
Performance Issues Result in Omission
The right-hander was left out from the one-day international team after being dismissed for one in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a highest score of forty-seven in his previous ten ODI batting appearances.
Labuschagne has featured in 68 one-day internationals and scored 1,871 runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now continue to press his claims a Test team comeback ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.
Surprise Inclusion and Other Squad Updates
Recent performances suggest of a resurgence with a score of 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw made a hundred for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.
Renshaw is in line to make his first white-ball appearance in the upcoming series against India after previously being selected in an ODI squad in 2022.
He has played 14 Test matches with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also seeking a Test return as Australia look for a fix to their opening batting issues.

Squad Selection Strategy and Fixtures
Australia have announced a squad for only the initial two T20 matches against India with the upcoming Ashes series, although Glenn Maxwell will be absent for the five-match series due to a wrist problem sustained in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will skipper both the ODI and T20 teams after scoring a hundred in the final game against New Zealand to clinch a 2-0 series win last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the later stages of the series as players get ready for the cricket season through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the preparation for the World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-game ODI series against India commences on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20s from 29 October.
