Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
